WinXP USB driver problems

Well I've tried the so called "fix" here

but nothing works. I tried the USB v11 and v10 drivers. The first part installs fine, but the second part asks for "ftserui2.dll" which does not exist in either of v10 or v11.
Any suggestions?
I'll return the product (MX222) rather than re-install WinXP.

Hello...

In your device manager under Ports (COM&LPT) and Universal Serial Bus Controllers, what does it have the unit listed as?

got the drivers working now cant work anything out , like how and were to download the stuff for the keypad. any ideas?

good to hear you got the drivers sorted out, but I don't understand the last part of your post.

i can not work out how to use the keys on the front of the thing. i dont no what software i need to download at all.

LCDC is the best and most powerful software out there, the keys are software dependent, in LCDC all you have to do is create an event, the LCDC website has good instructions on how to do that.

There is a yellow exclamation point after "USB Serial Port"

I tried installing the Orbital on my work computer (also WinXP sp1) I used the USB drivers v10. It worked perfectly, except that I'm having quite a few crashes using the LCDC software. I probably should have used the newer USB v11 drivers?
Anyway, the only clue as to what is wrong with the first machine is that the driver installation process keeps asking for "ftserui2.dll". This file is located in the C:\Windows\System32 directory. When I direct the installation to that directory, it seems to load OK but ends with the error "service name already exists".

OK< I understand the problem more now. I have encountered the same problem as you are having (on my system here). I have contacted the company that makes the driver so I hope they will be able to shed some light on the situation. I appreciete your patience. Miles will post a list to follow and try, this was sent to us by a customer recently with a similar problem.

A customer of ours had the same problem you are exhibiting and this was his solution...Try it and see if it works for you...

1.. Create an new folder called "Matrix Orbital v11"
2.. Download http://www.matrixorbital.com/download/U ... er_V11.zip
3.. Save the file to the "Matrix Orbital v11" folder
4.. Double click the file "USB_Driver_V11.zip" to expand it
5.. Plug the LCD display into the USB connector and wait 20 seconds
6.. Click Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware Device Manager
7.. Click + to expand Universal Serial Bus controllers
8.. Right click "Matrix Orbital MX2xx USB Driver"
9.. Select Update Driver>Install from a list or specific location > Next
10.. Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" > Next
11.. Select Have Disk
12.. Press the browse button. Go to the folder "Matrix Orbital v11" and
highlight the "ftdibus.inf" driver and press Open > OK > Next
13.. At the "Driver has not passed Windows Logo testing" press Continue
Anyway > Finish
14.. Click + to expand "Ports(Com & LPT)"
15.. Right click Matrix Orbital MX2xx USB Driver
16.. Select Update Driver > Install from a list or specific location>Next
17.. Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install">Next
18.. Select Have Disk
19.. Press the browse button. Go to the folder "Matrix Orbital v11" and
highlight the "ftdibus.inf" driver and press Open > OK > Next
20.. At the "Driver has not passed Windows Logo testing" press Continue
Anyway>Finish
21.. The exclamation mark should now disappear next to Matrix Orbital
MX2xx USB Driver
22.. Install LCDC - It will attempt to locate the display and fail.
23.. Go to the LCD connection menu select: Com4 (or wherever you device is located), 19200 and MX2xx in the
first 3 settings.
24.. Press the "Test display" button
25.. Select the "Text" option and press "Send selected"
26.. Now the LCD should display whatever text you send it.

i dont know what is causing this but ill post it here for the sake of things. When i shut down my Mx212 the backlightstays on. in another post henry suggested that i tell lcdc to turn off the bl when i shutdown. i did this and it work fine until the comp totaly shuts down. then my startup scren pops up and the backlight is on again. can i fix this? or is it not possible to turn off the backlight?

Just recieved my spiffy new MX212 in the mail yesterday, problem is it wont work with either the drivers on the CD, V10 or V11. I'm having the exact same problems as the gentleman above. any clues on what's causing this?
