Determining wide voltage range BLK202-25

Post by Femme »

Somehow a wrong sticker was applied over the VCC connector of the BLK202-25 BG WB here. Warning 5V only. But below 7V it did not do anything. :-?

24V and 5V are standard available. Other voltages have to be made.
I am wondering if this display will take 24V as VCC.

IOW how to determine this.

It looks like there is a little soldering jump below the 78m05 regulator. Would a connection turn it into a 5V model? :)

Hello Femme,

You mentioned that the module has a 78M05 so most likely this module is wide voltage (9-24V); and it acts like one. Please excuse the warning sticker.

Yes there is a solder jump below the regulator, if you want to convert this module to a regular (5V) module, you should also clip the left leg of the regulator. Please see page 9 of this manual. If you look closely, the left leg of the 78M05 is clipped; this, along with a solder jump makes the module a 5V module.

Thanks,

Does your "most likely" mean that it is safe to give it a try @ 24V?

Still don't know then what would distinghuish a 15V max from a 35V max model.

Hello Femme,

My 'most likely' meant for the -V module; now for certain I can say that your module is a -V module.

Pardon the 9-24V rating that I mentioned, I should have said 9-15V.
For the BLK202-25 BG WB, there is only 9-15V, we do not offer 35V.

For modules that do offer both 15V and 35V max, the difference lies on the regulator used. For the 15V, we use the 78M05, for the 35V modules we use a switching regulator. Also, as per part numbers, for 15V max we use the -V suffix; for the 35V max we use -VPT suffix.

I hope this clears things.
