I just re-read that guide, and hte only thing I disagree with is the choice of software. You'll want to run LCDC instead.

instead of using the serial cable, you can use the USB 2 Serial cable instead.

I have the same question.. I have a serial to USB adaptor that I once used with my Palm cradel on my old Mac (I can't get it to work with the PC however..) and I kind of need the open serial port so I can use my Palm (I have 3 serial devices and only 2 ports)..

How can I convince LCDC that the USB port that the LCD is hooked up to is really the LCD?

There will be a small driver that the USB->Serial dongle uses to make windoze think there's a COM3 (or COM4, 5, 6, whatever). Once that is in place, just point LCDC at the right COM port.

I lost the CD that it came on about 2 years ago :\ Any idea where I can pick up the drivers online? I'll check out Palm's site, but if you have an idea..

Also, how could I wire a USB cable to a motherboard USB (1.1) header?

check what chip is being used... you might have to open it up. You might be able to track down the drivers based on that.

Damnit. The Palm software for it didn't help (I found it on their site..)

I'm going to look for a version of the Palm Desktop that will work with a USB connection, and if I can't do that, I'll try to figure out what chip it carries... BTW, it's made by Palm (Well, its the official Palm-stamped one..)

(If anyone has a Palm Serial to USB kit, can you hook me up with the drivers?)
