Adding LEDs to GPOs for notification...

Post by Henry »

Matrix Orbital displays with GPOs are a very powerful combination. GPOs allow you to connect LEDs, Relays*, Fans* (* on high power GPO units) and more to the LCD/VFD...

Here is a simple little guide on installing 6 ulta bright LEDs to a personal server. This computer has no monitor atached to do 99% of the time, so having some warning LEDs is a great thing...

LED #1: Low Hard Drive space warning
LED #2: High System Temperature warning
LED #3: CPU Fan Failure
LED #4: Internet Connecting Failure
LED #5: ???
LED #6: ???

I dont see any quide here I was just going to install some leds myself to the display I assume just like you were going to do. I was just confuded about if I need some resistors or can I just hook up a 3.3v led right to it.

Hi Ghost,

Most of our designs have incorporated a resistor for all of the GPOs, so you will not have to add additional resistors into your design. In fact our LED bus does not contain any additional resistors; and the blindingly blue LEDs on it look excellent  . Hope that helps, if you need any more information just throw up another post.

Thanks,

Troy
