I have a VFD2041 that has been in storage for a little while, and now i cant get it to communicate with any PC.
Using Uproject it will open to comm port but no data will flow.

I have tested the serial port and i works fine, I have 5v at the board.
I have tried using the manual override jumper also.

This unit has been previously modified, the logic board has been separated from the VFD display, and the VFD had been replaced by a larger CU-20049-UW model.
The unit worked fine in this configuration before being put into storage.

Any clues on where to go from here for further testing?

Hi mickc,

Are you able to read from the display? (i.e Read Module or Read Version)

Try This:

1. Perform a Manual Override, do no remove jumper after you power the display on.

2. In uProject select the "Uploader" tab.

3. Select 'Other' -> 'Raw Data'

4. Using Raw data send the "Read Module Type" Command. (254 55)

If the communication to the Board is working you will receive a response.

This will help determine if you are able to communicate to the interface board or not.

Thanks Martino,

I gave it a try, no luck.

I get no response from the board at all.
I even put an RS232 analyser in line with the board and there is no data activity on the RX side.

I am assuming the board is dead. :(

I have just ordered an S-Series X-Board to replace it.
