Convert from 5 volt to wide voltage

Post by xylemnut »

I have a standard model LK202-25 that will be mounted in an F-18 cockpit to provide some additional avionics status info to the pilot. Unfortunately, the folks that procured the display got the standard, rather than -V or -VPT version. Aircraft voltages are poorly regulated and full of noise so I need to regulate the voltage to prevent smoke from escaping. Is it possible to add parts and modify the display to make it a -V or -VPT version? If so, can you please tell me how to do so? Otherwise I'll end up dead-bugging a linear regulator to achieve the same purpose. Thanks!

Hi xylemnut,

Thanks for posting on the forum.

It is possible to add components on the LK202-25, as you probably already figured, because of the unpopulated pads on the board; and because of this, you won't have to end up dead-bugging a linear regulator on the display. I hope you understand though that by doing this, you are voiding warranty on your display.

Please drop me an email at support@matrixorbital.ca.

Thanks and Best Regards,
