thermal sensors

Post by Averyj »

Hi, new guy here! I just purchased an MO MX212 and need assistance setting it up. So here's what's up, I am running a water cooled system. I've got 2 thermal sensors, 1 attached to the in flow of the processor, and one on the out flow. But they consist of 2 wires. If I am understanding right, the DIY sensors have 3? How can I hook these up to the mx212 with LCDC to read them on the screen, and use the input temps to regulate the Fans on the radiator?

If you need more info to go on, let me know.

Hi Avery,

The Dallas One-Wire temperature probes provided by Matrix Orbital, and I believe those listed above, are non-parasitic devices. This means they take power through one line, and have two other lines for ground and data. I believe your device is parasitic, meaning it just draws power from the data line, so there is no need for that third wire.

Your temp probes should hook up in the same way as the Matrix and DIY units, however, you'll only use the middle pin for data, and the rightmost pin, closest to the fan header, for ground.

Be advised, our displays have only been tested with the three wire non-parasitic units, so function for your device is unknown.

Anyway, if you do run into any further questions or concerns regarding that new unit as you get set up, please feel free to post.

Thanks,
~Troy
