mogd# font support?

Post by flip »

Noticed that some of the fonts that I load in mogd# show up as empty. The software correctly creates the bmp files, but when I choose the font from the dropdown list to modify or upload, mogd# just shows a blank matrix. Is the app not creating the mgf file correcty?

I'm on WinXp, here are a couple fonts that I've noticed don't work:
Abadi MT Condens
MS Reference Ser

A couple that have worked
Verdana
Times New Roman

They're all True Type fonts. Any idea why one would work but not the other?

One more question, can anyone point me to info on creating mgf files manually?

Thanks

Hello flip,

Thanks for your post.

For mogd#, it might take a couple of days before I can get back to you on this. I have a colleague who will be able to help us out.

As per creating the mgf files, this is documented in the manual of the graphics displays. Which one are you using?

Thanks,

I just have tested it with Abadi MT Condens without any problems, but I am using a newer mogd# development snapsot that has had some work in the font generation code.

If you want to have a try with this version PM me your email address and i'll send you an updated copy, remember that this is a development snapshot and things may break. If you rather wait for a new supported version it will probably be up on the website in a couple of weeks.

I am using the GLK24064-25 2.0 display. Is the MGF file format documented in this manual? If not, can you point me to a manual that has it? Thanks, Vernon.

The mgf format itself is an internal format of mogd# and not in any manual, the actual format for uploading fonts and bitmaps to the unit is available in any graphic display manual. for what purpose would you need the mgf format?

There is another message in this forum that describes a portion of the MGF file.

I created a new font based on Small Fonts available on another page on your website. The only difference is that I inverted the colors using a paint program, and renamed the font Small Fonts Inverted. I changed the first byte of the MGF to reflect the new length of 20 characters, inserted ' Inverted' and kept the rest of the MGF file intact. MODG# recognizes it, but none of the characters appear when I choose the Modify option in the Fonts section.

Unless you know of a faster way to generate the inverted fonts, I would like to see a format of the MGF.

...'invert font' checkbox in the upload pane?

It appears that there might be a later version of MODG#, because the 'Upload to device' in the Fonts section does not contain such a checkbox. There IS an Invert checkbox in the 'Upload to device' in the Bitmaps section. I see no version information in the program that I have installed, but the date of the .EXE is 6/21/2007 11:13PM.
