Does this mean Typhoon will not be able to work with LCD Smartie (http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net), Axcis Dashboard (http://www.axcis.com.au), Media Center Magic FrontView (http://www.mediacentermagic.com), and other third party software? Only LCD Studio?Henry wrote:Driver Core: The engine that makes everything go, so no Drivercore, no LCD, no information on the GX Typhoon
Other Software support

Re: Software Link You Will Need
Will you make the appropriate information available for the programmers (unlike Soundgraph)? As I know the programmers will need API to directly access the display from programs such as LCDSmartie and Dashboard.Henry wrote:All the software linked is only for alphanumeric LCD's. The authors of the software will need to make a graphic capable version.

Re: Software Link You Will Need
No anybody is allowed to talk to the DriverCore engine, this piece of software basicly solves the problem with one application exclusivly locking the display as happend with the character displays, if one application was using the display you coudn't start another cause the display was already in use.alentsa wrote:Does this mean Typhoon will not be able to work with LCD Smartie (http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net), Axcis Dashboard (http://www.axcis.com.au), Media Center Magic FrontView (http://www.mediacentermagic.com), and other third party software? What DriverCore does is pretty much timebox the applications trying to talk to the display, if there is only one running great it will be there all the time, of two are running it will alternate between the two etc.
All future Matrix Orbital display are planned to build on the DriverCore Engine so if MO releases a larger version lets say 240x128 in the future all the software people have already written will work out of the box on the new display.
LcdStudio is supported as a quickstart , if you don't know how to program but want a quick custom design by all means use it, if you say i do not like LcdStudio i will write my own software , i will add support to existing software or wait untill somebody does that for me thats pefectly possible too.
