to take the actual display off of an LCD unit off the main board and using an extension or something, mount it in another place away from the board?
For example, take a double bay insert display unit, place it in a drive bay horizontally, use some kind of an extension to place the actual display screen on a single 5 1/4 bay front bracket? This way you could get a larger display screen and not have to sacrifice two 5 1/4 drive bays.
Does anyone think that this is possible or am I only dreaming that it can happen?
Is it possible...
Sorry to be such a pain Henry...
I just ordered the LK204-25PC. That is the only unit that will do the job for me so I could not go with anything else. My problem is my case only has 3 bays. (2 of which are already in use)
The LK204-25PC isn't that big, so I suppose I could physically alter my DVD ROM and CD-RW drives in order to hold the LCD the way it was meant to be mounted. Although, it would be somewhat difficult and an extremely tight fit.
The simplest solution then would be to mount the unit horizontally and somehow place the display screen on the front display bezel via an extension of some kind, but if it is difficult for even you, it will probably be beyond my skill level.
What do you think?

taking the bezel off the LCD and extending that is impossible... you may just want to maybe look into mounting the LCD externaly?
