Designing your own logo... plus some suggestions.

Post by HardcoreG »

Hi there..!

--Thank you for posting your question, yeah, I got it.

I'm working on a review for the MX-6 unit.
(Suzanne, it should be online in a day or two.. sorry I seriously began only this weekend) :D
...But heh... I assume you agree with me its not the kind of review you can put on autopilot =) like a memory or video card test!=)

I've been successful enabling most of its features/plugins,

Now it would be nice to customize that a bit!
I got the little CustomCharacters prog, and used it to design
what I hope would like like a decent logo.. but I just cant figure out
what to do with all those hex values?!
I tried... well... opened that MOGD software of yours...

...where can I find some tutorial about that?
I included those hex values in a txt file... if anyone can help..

..And I was wondering... Is there any way to make some custom character remain in place while the text scrolls? (on the same row)

And, as a general advice, I hope you see there's a big need for some clear
guides/tutorials??
There is sooo many pretty simple newbies questions on the forum...
often asking precicely for that.
Mostly things I have figured out over time and looking litterally at other reviews, but!!! it took me quite a lot of time...
Oh, and is it me ot the forum's search engine is kinda.. useless??
It would be so simple to regroup all that information on a few webpages...
Basically that's what i'll try to do on our website but you should push that
way farther.

But as long as it works anyway.... DAMN it looks good!! =)
Anyway! No offence, were still friends??

Ill check back later!

Hi HardcoreG,

To help you understand the hex values, you can refer to the custom character section on page 19 "Define Custom Character" in the manual at http://www.matrixorbital.ca/manuals/PK_ ... SB_140.pdf

I wouldn't recommend using Mogd for your MX6 display. Mogd is used for our graphics displays. What program are you using for these hex characters. If you are using LCDC, there is an add on to that allows you to edit custom characters, which can be downloaded at http://www.lcdc.cc/downloads.htm. It will be under the character definer section.

You can look on the LCDC discussion forum for information on the Char mapper or editor at http://forums.lcdc.cc/index.php?showforum=6 There is a lot of information available on that subject.

So far I can't see a way to have the custom character remain in the place without trying to send the character all the time, but I will need to do some more experimenting on LCDC. If you are using it on LCDC, someone may have a solution to that question on the forum.

We currently do have lots of information on our products, but we are constantly coming up with new application notes. You can explore some of our application notes at http://www.matrixorbital.ca/appnotes/ We have also provided a faq section at http://www.matrixorbital.ca/FAQs/ to guide people as much as possible. We designed the www.matrixorbital.ca website just for extra support. I do appreciate any other suggestions or feedback from you, so we can further improve our websites and our products.

No offence taken, we're still friends.

Feel free to post anything else.

Best Regards,
