4x20 usb w/ button?

Post by relzool »

Hi,

I'm getting closer to locating the solution I need, I'm just hoping I can get some help in finding it.

I will need two 4x20 displays showing the same data connected and powered via usb to the motherboard of the computer. One display will be less than 4 foot from the computer, the other will be 30 foot from it.

There, that was easy.

What I'd like is to have a button connected on each of these displays that I can use to call on the backlight to be turned on.

As you already have the MX series set up for buttons, I'm wondering who I would talk to about modifying a faceplate to show only one button that I could then use to call through a java application to turn on the backlight.

Any thoughts?

Hello, modifying the faceplate would be a custom design that may incur NRE fees and/or additional charges. We would not design new custom keypad overlays in house...... but I could provide you with the MFG's information if you are interested in working with them dierct on a custom design.

If you would like the contact information for our keypad mfg please feel free to contact me direct at:

Alternatively, you could order two MX4xx units with no buttons on their faceplates, and simply wire up a single switch to short one row and one column on the keypad connector of each of the units, and use that event as a backlight toggle.
