I am looking into purchasing a display for my new system and am currently looking at purchasing something from the MX2 series.
I understand that the current displays, revision 1.4, incorporate 3 fan headers but I require 4. My fans are already powered so I'm only interested in monitoring the rpms. I'm assuming that in this case then I would be ok to attach the first three fans to the three headers on the display, but is there any way I could attach the forth? As recommended on another thread on this forum I will also have an additional Ground wire to attach as well.
Any responce would be greatful but please try and be as simple as possible. I'm afaid to say that I am a bit of a noob when it comes to wiring and electrics.
4 fan monitoring on MX2
Hi,
Thanks for posting at Matrix Orbital LCD forums.
You can connect 4 fans by using a connecting 3 pin Y cable splitter into a GPO, which can be found at http://matrixorbital.com/pages/accessories.asp?CatID=1, and connecting two fans into the splitter. However, you will not be able to read the RPM of the two fans individually. The two fans will go at the same speed, and the RPM is read as one. The other two fans will be connected and the RPM is read normally.
If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to post.
Best Regards,
