Question about a HD44780 LCD and a serial module

Post by alexander007 »

I have a 2x16 HD44780 compatible LCD...I want to connect it via the serial port of my PC, Im interested on buying this serial module - SerLCD... I emalided the company and they told me this:
If you've got a 9600bps TTL serial string, the LCD will display whatever you pass it.
So my question is...programas like LCDSmartie, LCDC; LCDCenter send that or what?

Please help me :(

Thanks for your help

Hello and welcome,

1. please mind the rules, the main rule is that this forum is for Matrix Orbital customers and products
2. No, the unit is TTL and you will need RS232 levels to talk to any computer
3. LCDC will only work with MO units

The easiest way to get LCDC and a dipslay is to buy a MX series from us, or buy a 2x16 for ~$52 or a 4x20 for ~$59

This unit with a power cable and a serial cable will get you all you need to get it going with LCDC. Anymore question, let us know.
