Should the MX4 powerup with the PC

Post by ikonia »

Hello all.

I ran a test on my my laptop using the external USB cable. using lcdc all was well.

I decided to port it into the PC I plan to use it in.

I installed it, wired up the USB internal cable (correctly before you ask...) powered on the machine the machine powered on, made the correct beeps etc all looked well except the MX4 didn't power on - nor did it power the fan I plugged into it.

I then removed it and used the external USB cable on the same machine and again the machine powers on, makes the correct beeps and starts to spin up disks etc, however there is no power to the MX4 again.

Does the MX4 need an OS (I have none on my machine) or should it just power up with the machine.

I removed the MX4 plugged it back into my laptop using the external cable and about %50 through windows boot up the MX4 comes on.

I'm a little confused to this behaviour. At what point should the MX4 power on ? what does it need to power up (just power ??)

Has anyone seen this behaviour ?

help etc.

Thanks,

Matt

Unless you apply external power (3.5" floppy cable) the display will not power up until Windows initilises the USB ports.
