Is there an emulator available?

Post by BoB-O »

Hello,

I'm going to be getting a 24064 sometime soon. It's "soon" because they're on backorder most everywhere. In the mean time, I'd like to write some code. Is there an emulator that I can use to get started while I wait for the real hardware?

Thanks,
BoB

What software language are you using and what do you plan on doing with the display when you receive it...?? :D

I'll be using it in a small x86 device using C/C++ on Linux (I'd like the emulator to run on Windows though as I'm writing portable code and prefer to dev on XP). I would like to talk to it over I2C, but I read an old doc that states that you cannot upload fonts or bitmaps over I2C. Is this still true? If so, I'll be using the standard serial connectivity. FWIW, I plan on using the -25 version with the keypad controller.

Thanks,

Default font?

Given the lack of a response, I guess that means there isn't an emulator out there yet? (Miles/Henry/Johnny/anyone?) I'd like one too, because I put my 24064-25 in my car and it'd be really nice to not have to un-install it in order to hook it up to my workstation everytime I want to write some code for it. It seems like it wouldn't be too awful to write an emulator, except where can I get a copy of the default font?

Sorry for the long delay...sorry there isn't an emulator available. You will not be able to load fonts or bitmaps to the display via the I2C protocol, you will need to change to RS232. If you send me an email at myero@matrixorbital.ca I will send you the default fonts.
