I'm very dumb

I know, I've readd all the warnings, and I still managed it:- I plugged my LK204 into the standard floppy power lead instead of the modded one
The screen is not completely dead - I get a flashing cursor, but it completely refuses to communicate with the serial port, so I'm guessing I've managed to fry something quite important...
It's out of warranty, but any ideas of how I could fix it? I've got pretty good soldering skills and some knowledge of electronics, but besides shortcutting the voltage regulation by inputting 5v through pin 9 of the serial (after shorting the jumper) with no more joy, I'm lost.
Any ideas of what I should try? Or are there any options to have it repaired proffessionally? you can probably tell, I'm fairly desperate, aswell as uber dumb.
Thanks in advance for any reply.
