here are some pics of my red modded GLK backlight. used a 10,000MCD superultramegabright LED from allelectronics.com. I filed out the white LED in the backlight unit, and then filed the red LED to a rectangle so it would fit in (but i kept the tip rounded). got some new polarizing film, and ta-da, presto chango
my cam sucks hehe
yes im using that APC bezel and buttons...those buttons on the right have spaces for LEDs behind them so they light up...perfect for setting up a set top TV center
btw, any new developments on the graphical LCD front?
Well i bought that LCD from you Dex and i cant make it work,, hehe, can you take a pic of the cables you used? to make sure the ones from Matrix Orbital that i bought have the same Pinout.
turnes out the pinout on the cable i bought from Matrix ORbital, the 4BL or something,, was backwords,, the ground was fine but the serial send and recieve pins were reversed, I changed them around and bingo.
heh, cant take any more cool pics cuz i had to sell the LCD for some $$$. ill probably be buying a glk12232-SM in the future, when money flows free once again
I will be as long as i can figure this thing out Have to figure out what software will be best to drive it for PC stats and such. I am having difficulties with text just overlapping when screens are switched. LCD Smartie seems promissing but i cant figure it out to the extent that i need to. Anybody recomend anything? Ive download lots of apps like LCDC and LC Driver, the matrix orbital graphic LCD software works really nicely but doesnt offer any of the functions i need. Other than loading fints and such. So any recomendations would be helpoful. if you wish email me.

You're right of course, the 4BR cable is wired differently for the -WBL (orange and green lines are swtiched).
As for GLK dirving software, LCDC is probably your best bet but it'll take some work to make it display nice graphics (set as a 4x20 display you need to make sure you send 4x20 characters every screen and that every line either adds up to 122 pixels wide, or the line starts with a move cursor ro next line command... so adding the odd graphic to lcdc screens is doable but isn't simple - also only use a fixed spacing font).
Wow - this is what I want to do on mine.... How would I go about getting blue/white characters on a black background? I want the VFD look but already own an LCD! Where I can I buy the polarising film? what colour do I need to get?
