Using the alternate USB communication

Post by ldardini »

I'd like to use the alternate USB communication to hook my MK2xx (LK202-24-USB) to the internal USB header of my sapphire motherboard.

The mobo reference manual says:
1 vcc
2 gnd
3 usbp1-
4 usbp0+
5 usbp1+
6 usbp0-
7 gnd
8 vcc

The MK2xx reference manual says:
1 +5v
2 D-
3 D+
4 Not Used
5 Ground

I'd like to build a cable to connect the mobo directly to the MK2xx... but I don't know how to setup the wires... help me.

The mobo header is actually two ports, so either forget about pins 1-4 or pins 5-8.

Now from mobo to mx2 connect vcc to 5V, gnd to ground, usbp1- to D- and usbp1+ to D+ (I may have D- and D+ the wrong way round, but you won't hurt anything getting these wrong, so if it doesn't work just swap them over :)).

Here's mine:

Rob,

Why did you use the USB cable to go from the display port to the motherboard?

Couldn't you have used the Alt. USB to the right, and wired those pins directly to the mobo pins?

This is a question b/c I have yet to buy my LCD and using the Alt is something I would be planning on using, so if I am wrong someone correct me!!!

My display was a preproduction sample, it didn't have the alternative header...

it was so early that it doesn't even have any writing on the PCB. All the new PCBs have white text all over the place telling you what is what :)

I belive the holes are there, but no actual header is soldered there. (and cheese, Rx and Tx will be backwards on that board, don't ask...)
