I read somewhere that USB cables can be a maximum of 5 metres long, a distance I would probably need. Does anyone know if the displays perform normally at this distance, and what distance they are spec'd for? Thanks.
Maximum USB Cable Length?
Per the USB 2.0 spec, you don't worry about the length per se, you worry about the signal pair attenuation and propagation delay.
Since the speeds at which the MO displays operate are so low (compared to USB 2.0), I'd expect 5m to be no problem in practice. Buy a USB 2 rated cable for best results becuase the specs are higher (USB1 didn't require twisted pair, etc.)
(Reference: USB 2.0 spec, 6.4.1, 7.1.14 and 7.1.17)
