Internal USB cable/adaptor for a GLK12232-25SM

I stupidly purchased this product, somehow believing that I2C (which I'd never heard of before) was actually another acronym for USB, since there's all kinds of MO displays with USB connections, I thought that their displays all had Serial AND USB on them. Stupid me! And I researched it too, I thought!! (Maybe the fact that all the displays are NOT USB should be in the faq for noobs like me) There's even USB drivers on the CD that come with the display, just to add to the confusion!
Furthermore, I even e-mailed MO regarding a display that I could use inside my PC in a 3.5" drive bay, and they suggested the GLK12232-25SM. They didn't bother to mention that it was Serial only and would need a cable/adaptor to run it USB...

ANYWAY...

Enough ranting, now I'm just looking for a solution, hopefully someone else has run into the same problem and found the answer...

I assume there's no USB version of a GKL12232-25SM, so where can I find a cable or adaptor or something that will allow me to connect this display to my motherboard's internal USB header? I assume that's possible...

I think any normal serial-to-USB adapter should work. Just butcher the cable a bit and connect the wires to the pins of the USB header.

Forgive me, but I'm obviously a noob - can you point me to a link somewhere that shows a picture of one of these adaptors that would be suitable for internal mounting? Also, would this just be a cable or a device with some circuitry as well?

I was imagining using one suitable for external mounting, but just shoving it in the case somewhere. They're powered by the USB bus, so power isn't a problem...

Try something like this - that's a normal USB to serial cable. Then one of these to let you plug it into the motherboard.

I've got a very small case, so I'll have to select something carefully. I wonder if I can get the circuitry alone so I can make it as a piggy-back card on the MO circuit board...

The docs say that the MO display will operate at TTL levels as well as RS232 levels, so I shouldn't even need an interface chip.

I'll have to check with MO to see for sure.
