no connection to my lcd2041 (rev1.5)

hi!
just bought this nifty thingy from my friend.. dunno where he got it from.. because he did not give me any cables or manuals or anything.. so i modified the floppy powercable as the manual said so i've got power.. but no connection.. i bought a null-modem cable because thats the only serial cable i could find (i live in a small town)

and a mini gender changer and connected it to the lcd-display.
but either lcdc or lcd-tester will detect it. and it seems like i can connect to it manually but when i send text to it all i see is the blinking dot in the corner.. sounds familiar to anyone??

edit: is it the cable that needs to be replaced?

Hello...

With our units you need to use a straight through cable (pin1 to pin1, pin2 to pin2, etc.) for communication. A null modem will not work. Straight through cables are common and should not be too hard to find!!

just thought of something, would a mouse "cable-lengthener" work? think i have one laying around..

As long as it's pin configuration matches up...I don't see why this wouldn't work...
