really confused by how to hook up GLK12232-25-SM

Just received my unit, and I am confused by a couple things that are probably simple...

In the "Installation " section of the manual it says:

1. Connect the "Plug for GLK12232-25-SM" to the Power/RS-232 connector on the back of the GLK12232-25-SM.

However I do not appear that I have a power/RS-232 connector on the back.
What I have is a set of 4 pins and a set of 10 pins running allow the long side of the board and 2 sets of 4 pins on the short side of the board which appear to be for power. I have read through the manual several times, and the diagrams and instructions make no sense to me... howI am suppose to hook this up.

I am doing this for a school project and need to have it external so I would like to have it powered through the serial port if possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By searching web I figured out that the white connector is for power and the brown one is for data, but still don't understand how to connect serial cable I got from OM to brown connector, they are incompatible as is.

From the manual, section 2

Section 2.1.1 for power information and 2.1.2 for RS232 communication... everything should be there.

When referring to the "Matrix Orbital-supplied PC cable" are they referring to the serial cable?

There is a cable called the -4BR cable which can be used with the -SM.
