:w00t: Found the problem!!! :w00t:

As suspected what is going on is that when LCD Tester connects to a display, it sets all its features to their "defaults". This will change for the next version so that display settings will not be changed as LCD Tester connects to the display. In the mean time however, what is causing your display to display "garbage", is actually just the cursor's underline and block cursor settings being ON. This causes the cursor to be visible all the time, and you can just imagine what this does to the intended output of LCDC. To fix this, before you disconnect from LCD Tester go to the Text section and make sure that Underline and Blinking Cursor are set to Off. I think these are the only two features that are affecting the LCDC output.
On the bright side however, this little bug makes you realize how fast our displays can manage information passed onto them. :o

Thanks to SeRi@lDiE & Miles for pointing this bug out.

Will the tester software support the VK-204-24-USB?

Post by GermanMan »

I just downloaded and used the latest LCD Tester software and find that the database does not contain the configuration information for the VFD model VK-204-24-USB. As a result, I don't get to use all the features. I have to select a model that is close and tell the software to ignore the fact that the unit numbers don't match - so I can play with a 4 line display, but don't have access to the 'boot screen text' settings - or I can select the 2 line version and get access to the features but be limited to 2 lines.

Or am I just missing it in the pulldown list?

I just tried this and I seem to have a identity problem.
LCD 4041
Selected LCD type 0x7 does not match
the lcd connecting to of type 0xA.

Read module type gives 254 55
module type 10

top line says connected to LK404-55

I used the lasted database but this still happens.
BTW this locks up the LCD till I do a cold boot.
Just thought you might want to know about this 'feature' ;)
