Problem with shorting..

Post by Dashiva »

Well I did a little fab work on my LCD, it didnt fit too well into the bay, and when I closed the door if you can look in the pic, it would look really stupid recessed.
Anyway, after a little hardware, and acrylic later, I have this Detachable LCD I can slide down into place in the top of the case. (I want to pull it off and put it in front of my monitor for easy viewing when plaing Half-life)

Problem is when I slide it back onto the door, the alum from the door shorts out the backlight.... :grr: It was such a good idea :( I guess I could put some sticky felt around the door, anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this by grounding or somthing else?..

Hi, yeah about the shorting there is a lock i can see in the pic maybe you could put two contacts on the female part of the lock so the male shorts it out. well thats what i would do.

My question is why thru the front bay?
Why not make a USB to USB connection?
For Example...
Have a front USB Port and connect the detachable LCD to it :)
Have that front USB port connect to a internal USB port like I have it in my setup....
Here is a pic.

Or to the back USB ether way would work.

I was planning on somthing like that Seri, I gotta go out and get a few usb cables.. well come to think of it i'd need to get a usb patch cable with female on one end
This was my first experiance with arylic, and I have to say i'm impressed with how easy it is to work with.

Anyway i'm not sure I understod Mace's post and i'm no wiring prodigy, but seems I should just take a ground from a floppy or somthing and ground the lock maybe? :-?
