Im after moddin the dvd and cd drive face plates so you can see inside
the unit "plastic case"? if anyone has info on how this could be done,
please let me know.

i just installed this display in my briefcase computer - the computer is watercooled, and has a NEC LCD1850E built into the lid

a hole was cut for the display itself, holes were then drilled for the mounting screws

after installing the display and using washers to make the front of it flush with the case side, i wired it internally to a serial header on the motherboard, and to the power

i then used some foil tape to finish the edges nicely

Case; Chieftec Dragon Aluminum Tower W/ full plexi window in left side door and dual handles on top (front drive bay door removed).
Difficulty: Easy, once I learned how to install, configure and program...thanks to this Forum and the LCDC Forum and especially to Henry & Miles at M.O. and Mat-d-rat at LCDC.
Other: LED panel installed behind side plexi window to indicate SCSI activity; dual LAN activity; e-mail receipt; CPU cooling fans half speed control (for 5 minutes after system shutdown).
System Info: Tyan Thunder MB supporting Dual AMD MP 2400+ CPUs; 1.5 GB ECC RAM; Lite-on CD-RW; Samsung DVD; Digital Dock 5; Iomega Zip 250 (backup for document files); 2-50 GB SCSI HDDs; 4-80 GB HDDs in dual RAID mirror array; Enermax 465W power supply...whew!...got a lot of stuff packed in there. The last thing I will add is some CC lighting inside the case (if I can find a place to put them).
Materials needed: Nothing unusual: 2 pin connectors (salvaged from old computer cases) for the GPOs and LEDs; typical computer screws and other hardware; tie-wraps; soldering supplies.

I don't think it turned out bad for the first project of this magnitude...so you guys (and gals) out there that don't think you can do it...YES YOU CAN! You too can be a first class "MODDER"...especially with the help of first class oeganizations like Matrix Orbital & LCDC...cheers![/img]

Ok guys, here it is... after some minor initial problems with my new LK204-25PC (and the help from Miles that fixed those fried GPOs for me... THANKS), everything in my new case is in place.

Features:
Full H2O cooling system (XP 2400+@2.28Ghz, Radeon 9700 both H2O cooled), Soyo KT400 board, 1GB of Corsair XMS3500, RAID 0, 52X burner....
LK204-25PC controlling a Sunbeam dual cathode inverter (2 12" blue cathodes), a 6 bright blue LEDs behind the front bezel, and a small email LED next to the LCD. LCDC turns all lights on of off at preset times or at the press of a button on the front panel. Pretty sweet.

Other: Will remove unit from silver bezel and mount onto a clear drive bay as soon as I've modded the case drive bays, the bezels are only held in by a single screw so they move around a lot.

This was an earlier picture, the LCD has moved since and the floppy and second CD writer have been removed completly. I haven't got any newer night time pics though

Just received my MX222 this week and have it installed in my Kingwin case.

Notes: The 5.25" drive bays in this case don't allow you to use the standard mounting screws. I may modify one of the drive bay covers to mount the display so that I can get it firmly attached.
