Help: Gibberish on LK202-24-USB

Post by billducky »

First let me start by saying that I am 100% new to the LCD arena. That said...here is the problem:
Brand new LK202-24-USB (just unpacked) .
Hooked up a usb cable to it...looks good
install (with some dificulty) the LCD Tester software
Works for a total of 3 minutes.
The second I tried the "Send Text" Option..the thing wigs out and now I get nothing but gibberish and squares on the screen
Whenever I try to start LCD Test again..it gives me some error message about the serial number and the lcd being undetectable.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hello...

Can you tell me what revision of PCB you have...? I'm presuming it is a Rev 1.0...

It is a Rev 1.0

I am using WinXP home with SP1 with the device set to Com 3

Thanks for taking the time to ponder this one!

We are going to try and perform a manual override...

1) Unplug the USB cable from the LCD.
2) Remove the keypad connector.
3) With C1 being pin 1, you must put a jumper on pins 6 & 7 (you can use the HP jumper for now).
4) With the jumper still on, attach the USB cable to the LCD.
5) Remove the jumper and run LCDC.

(if you need further information you can refer to the manual)

Let me know how you make out...

Miles, Thanks for your help. With the jumper moved it works fine.

I tried to move the jumper back and the problem resurfaced. So my last question. Is it a problem to keep that jumper moved?

Thanks for all your help!

Can you try one more thing for me...

With the jumper on, can you use Display Tuner (available on the eCD) and save the contrast to something noticeable. Un-power the module and power it back up with the jumper removed and let me know if the different contrast level was saved...
