Hi I'm installing a custom stereo in my car and i want to do something unique so i thought of setting up a computer in my car to play MP3's and control the fans that cool down my amps. THats when i started looking at the
Matrix Obital MX-2 because you can control winamp from it and it can control your fans. Of course the Display would be mounted in the front of the car the rest of the computer in the back and all the amps will be in the back also. In Lee's review at GruntVille he said that "Anything within 3 feet of the display is fair game". Now when i set it up the display and the amps are going to be more then 3 feet apart and i would like to have them monitor the temperature of my amps so is there any way to get around this? Thanks!
probe question?
Hello....
The reason that the temp probe cable is a max of 3 feet is due to troubles with signal degredation and "noise related" issues. My suggestions for this setup is as follows. With your PC in the back of your vehicle you must run your USB cable to you LCD which is installed in your dash ( be aware max length of the USB cable is 16 feet). From there you must use a thick cable for your temp probes as well as a sheath that should be connected only at the PCB ground and open at the probe end. Connect the other three wires accordingly. Power for the fans will be from the PC which will not cause any problems at all. However if you wanted your fans to run a bit faster you can always use voltage directly from your battery!!! Let us know how you make out...
