Have you ever considered a simple display that would fit in a 3 1/2" drive bay?

Thanks, I was hoping someone would answer. I checked a few other sites that sell 2x20 and 1x16, but I'm a total newbie. Would much soldering be involved? (God, I hope I don't burn up my house). I guess I'd have to cut the bezel (I have an aluminum case) and somehow attach everything to a controller of some sort. I recall reading somewhere that an HD44780 controller would be good.
Now to show you how little I know about this thing, I'm not even sure what the controller does, nor do I have any idea which program to use. Would you know of an LCD site for dummies? I just wanted to do something simple to start like a clock, just to try it out. I'd be grateful for any help.

I've wired up about four 2x20 displays which will fit in 3.5" bays now, they come with built in // controllers so you just have to wire them as you would a normal parallel display... maybe I'll dig a picture out for you if I have time.
