LK204-25 wiring problem...

Post by vveakling »

Hey, I'm trying to wire up a male and female serial connector so that i can plug the serial cable coming from the computer into a port on the back of a custom box, rather than directly into the lcd interface..

I've read the manual.. and as far as i can tell, I should be able to get this working with just 2 wires, instead of all 9 of the serial cable.. so i wired pin 2 and 3 straight from the male connector to the female, and when running lcdproc, it displays fine, but its detecting a whole bunch of keypresses that arent happening. Seems like the wires must be touching somewhere, and the line sending back to the computer must be getting false data from the display line... but visually i cant see any way that could be happening. so i just wanted to check if i interpreted the manual right.. should be just 2 wires right? thanks
