Hiya All,
After spending numerous hours browsing the Serial LCD's offered by MO, I have discovered that there doesn't appear to be any that match the LCD's in my 86 Ford Fairmont.
Are there any plans to do a 40x2 character display with orange text/black (dark blue) backgroud? I am interested in this particular config, as I am designing/building a mp3 player to be used in my car as well as in my home stereo. Details (although there aren't many yet) can be found at my website http://chase.bcheese.homeip.net
Thanks Guys.

Looking for a LCD to match my cars LCD's.
The first option that comes to my mind, and perhaps the easiest way is to cut your own filter. Theater and stage companies may even have an extra sheet they would give you. If not you can usually buy a 2 foot square sheet for about 6-8 bucks at any theater supply company. Most are fairly thin and if they dont have the exact color you want they can be layered. This type filter is very durrable as they are usually placed directly in front of stage lights that get VERY VERY hot.
If you get a glk-12232-wbl, drill the led out and put an orange one there then invert the display you should have what you want... well it's 20x4 not 40x2 but it's close to what you want
I've done this, it's looks great and I'd show you some pics if the website I'd put them on wasn't dead atm
Cheers,

edit: ok found this pic,

Inverting is easy, and getting rid of the halo can be done by palying with the led a bit

No probs mate... You can make the display any colour you want, you can buy almost any wavelength LED from yellow to red and they're all very cheap. The LED I used was 10cd (very very bright) and it cost about $0.50On 2002-05-23 04:07, bcheese wrote:
Cheese,
Thanks for the info, it definately is looking like the way to go, and it also opens up the capabilities for my project.
