Ok all you guy with big brains. I am looking at buying the MO LK204-25PC. I understand it can be set to have the backlight turn on you off, is that right? I was thinking of putting a diode, like those that turn on you porch light when the sun goes down. And have that turn on the backlight when my house gets dark. Do you think this is possible or would it be too hard?

Why not, if you can make the light sensor press a key on the keypad, (short two pins together) the LCDC (for example) will see this keystroke and you will be able to turn on/off the backlight.
