Okay,
So I just installed my new MO VFD, and I can't seem to get it to work. I used the power cable and serial cable that I purchased from here, so there shouldn't be a cable problem.

I turned off and removed power to the computer, hooked the power cable up to a spare power cable hanging around in the computer, and hooked the serial cable to port 2.

I powered the computer back up, and believe I should see a flashing cursor at this point (correct?). Nothing at all, I tried using the demo program (set at 19.2 kbps) to send some text to the display. No dice.

What should I look at or try now?

Well when I start it up, I just see it saying "Matrix Orbitals VF....", no flashing cursor at all.
This stays there until I send other commands to it.

Make sure you have that serial port enabled in the BIOS.

I have the serial port enabled in the BIOS. Nothing at all comes up when I boot the computer. The screen just stays dark.

Is your display a regular or wide voltage? what power are you applying to the VFD? what type of connector and what leads?

It is a wide voltage model (from the AVS buy). I am using the power connector I purchased from MO, with the yellow and the black leads.

do you have a multi meter? can you test if you are getting a good voltage before the voltage regulator and after?

Okay, I finally tracked down a multimeter. What voltage should I be getting before and after the regulator. And if you don't mind Henry, could you post a picture showing where you want me to check.

Thanks
Brian

Okay, not to be a dumbass, but where on that picture should I be checking the voltage across. I understand how a multimeter works, but I am not the best with electronic components

Check the power coming in, so from the power supply, or the Vin pin.
