Was just wiring up my lcd, and think I connected the usb pins to the back in the wrong order.
Probably putting the 5v+ line down one of the data pins, guessing this makes the device useless? Or is there some sort of protection on it?
Nothing shows on the screen when connected up with a usb B cable to the connector on the back.
Just been looking with a mltimeter, and the two components at the lower right hand side. (looking at pcb with 'Matrix orbital' at top centre)
The writing on these is
10-20

One seems to work, other seems to be 'blown'.
Could this be the cause?
Really don't want to have to buy another display as, more than likely its going to mean a new casing for the new display etc.
Sounds like you may have blown a power capacitor on your LK202-24-USB display. From the description provided, it sounds like it is repairable, however, it won't be covered under warranty so you will incur shipping and repair charges.
Alternatively, it is possible to purchase a new LK202-24-USB display unit alone, without all the extras. In fact, they're even on sale now.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding repair or replacement, please don't hesitate to post.
This part, would it be possible for me to replace the part with one from my local electronics store?
I don't want to me spending loads trying to get this one to work, just incase it is broke completely. So if I can't do it cheap I may just buy a new one.
That part is a 10uF, 20V 10% tolerance tantalum surface mount capacitor. You may be able to find something acceptable at your local electronics store, but Digikey will definitely carry the part we use.
When soldering to the unit, I have to tell you that any modifications will void your warranty, but I think I went over that with original modification.
If you do run into any trouble, or have further troubleshooting questions after the repair, please feel free to put up another post.
My apologies for the delay sorry to hear that the replacement of that cap has not helped your unit. If you are in need of a display, I would recommend replacement, we do have the MX sale on now, but repair is also an option. Should you require any assistance with either, just let me know.
