Suggestions:

Great software. I have a few questions/ideas etc.

1) Can you make your winamp time information like LCD Center? I only have a 2x20 so I don't need it to say 4 Min 59 Sec. I know that 4:59 means the same. The extra space can give me room for extra info like bitrate.

2) How come yours is the only program that works without fail? Alot of others start by default with backlight off which makes my VFD useless and invisible. Some don't even have the option to turn it on so I always end up using yours to "initialize it". Whatever you are doing, good job.

3) Can you make the bar intervals different. What I mean is maybe have each block represent a larger percentage or something? I have little space on D: and it shows up as no bars, but that is hard to picture because it looks like it's empty. It really isn't. It has some space but visually it looks weird.

4) Transitions like LCDC?

5) More weather and headline news please, especially for the US. Try http://www.weather.com for weather. Maybe a way to insert zipcode?

6) How about movietimes?

7) Pings to your favorite website to see how quick the response is? I have no use for this but someone might.

That's all I can think of for now. Thanks for your great work.

Can someone, BasieP? Help me with this one. It happens periodically. There's no method to when it happens.

well.. I got smartie kindof working on the graphic LCDs... I took a GLK24064-25-CCFL home and played

problems with smartie and graphic:

1. Sending information too fast
2. Custom Characters and graphic don't mix

Incidently to weed out the suspicions, I DO have the correct comm port selected and I DO have the correct speed selected and I DO have the correct display size selected and I DO have the correct LCD selected. With that in mind has anyone else seen this error. I'm using WinXP.

This error seemed to happen only when accessing or closing the setup menu. Also when I selected "hide" on the mini HUD to shrink it to taskbar, the display would just stop responding after a point. When I went to the taskbar to select the icon the error above would happen again. I did not run any programs that integrate other than MOBO monitor which is on all the time.

This is all I can give you unfortunatly. Any ideas?

Yeah Jay I've seen the same problem in XP (using a 4x20 parallel), just happens sometimes - reinstall helped me. Also quite at random it decides to use up 100% cpu load too it seems (came back to my computer 5 degrees hotter than it should be... then I noticed smartie had been at it for half an hour)... I think it's just that XP doesn't let programmers get away with as much as some other os's, try LCDC - much more stable in my experience

Cheers,

r.

p.s. BasieP no hard feelings but smartie just doesn't work well enough in XP atm - perhaps it's better to caution against it's use...

BasieP, YOU ROCK!

I just got a MO 204-25PC and I was like,
DAMN this thing needs some SETI action.

I came here lookin for a programmer that
might have it/add it and I see this.

Thanx man!
I'll give you an update and suggestions
after I get it all setup and tweaked out
the way I want!

Damn, never mind....my damn 204-25PC died
on me!!

I was flipping through the settings in your
software and I looked down to see how it
looks on the screen, and blamo...nothing
but backlight.

I've tested all my connections, powered
the system down and restarted, used the
Alpha test software and startup screen
changing software. Nada. Just a nice bright
backlit screen. Which I can shut off using
your software, but nothing else.

Damn, and I'm supposed to debut this MAD
Modded computer in all it's freshly painted
glory at one of the largest LAN Parties in
the Midwest this next weekend...

Hey, any MO guys reading? How fast can I
get a replacement sent to Chicagoland?

Damn, sorry to clutter up the web board.

But Never Mind X2.

I cleared off all the software, rechecked
all my connections, and reran the Alpha
test software....and it was the damn contrast
automagically set itself to something really
low. I'm not sure if it was smartie, or just
a MO glitch.

But the odd thing is, I adjusted the contrast
earlier with no results.

Hardware glitch?

Anywho, thanx again everyone!

Ok, sorry to be bombing this thread, but
I've been up working on my computer for the
past 42 hours in order to get it all done
by the big LAN party next weekend...work
kinda takes too much of my weekday time.
And yes, pictures will be available if
anyone gives a damn...LOL

BasieP:

Software works great. I originally got that
"-" is not valid error when I went into
advanced options, and it appears that the
advanced options crashed out and wiped all
the "factory" settings. That's part of what
knocked my Contrast to 0. And every time
after that if I went into Advanced Options,
the slider would autoset itself to 0.

After a Delete and Reinstall (unpack), all is
well!! Looks GREAT!!!

Suggestions/Wants:

I NEED more then 10 screens. Including your
"Welcome" screen which I left in place so
everyone at next Saturdays LAN could see who
made this kick ass software, I'm full up to
10 screens, and I could use at least 3 more!!
Us small screen guys need love too!

I'd like to see a $ for HostIP

I'm going to be a MAD user of the GPOs;
I currently have 4 Cold Cathode Tubes,
and 2 fans on a radiator thats part of
my watercooling system, and I have this
KILLER idea for a xenon strobe tube to go
off when the software sees my half life
stats go up a kill. I'm probably pushing it
there, but it would be nice to have the
option to strobe a GPO on XXX event. And
or Strobe the backlight on/off. Example;
Arrival of mail=Flash GP01 5X. Or Flash
Back Light 5X.

I'm not sure where to get the data, but us
overclockers would LOVE to flaunt our
FSB (Front Side Bus) and Multiplier if it
were possible.

As I said earlier, I stumbled into the
Forums here several hours ago looking for
support for SETI. I'm not sure if your
have Smartie go to the SETI servers for our
stats or look in the *.sah files, but I bet
I could dig up a few hundred peeps that would
LOVE SETISpy support! Hell, I'd get a whole
nother LCD JUST for SETI if I could get
all the info I'd normally have SETISpy on
my screen for! If you want to play with
this idea, here is a setup document from
my teams web page/forum:

http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showth ... adid=62194

It includes direct download links to all the
files needed to setup SETI and SETISpy.
I'm almost in the top .1% of all the SETI
users in the world. 99.847% according to
this need little LCD I have here! So believe
you me when I say we would LOVE to be able
to monitor our %per hour, WUs per day,
Angle of Reception, Work Unit Name Etc.

Um, that's all I can think of now. I'm
running on empty now, closing in on 48 hours
of case modding, overclocking, custom
wiring, and the best part yet, playing with
my first LCD screen!

Oh! One last thing. Here is a link to my
config file for my LK204-25PC. Not all of us
can have a 40 line display! So I trimmed
the stock config file up a bit, cleaned up
some screens, slowed the scroll speed down,
and generally made it look neater for a
4X20 screen. Obviously anyone who downloads
it will want to change some things, like
SETI stats and such LOL! I hope this proves
usefull to somebody or two:

http://www.blitzmillennium.net/LRAVEN/204-25PC.zip

I'm enjoying this LCD display so much, that
I hope to be able to afford a graphics
display version soon! Then I'll be making
custom graphix for peeps too!

Thanx again to the guys at MO for a great
product, and thanx again to BasieP for a
software thats 99% of what I was lookin
for!!

G'Night!
