What colour of filter for my LCD display?

Post by Al »

I have the LK204-25PC, light blue background with dark blue letters...

The HTPC case I have supplied a dark smoked filter, this is too dark and I am not sure that the brown colour works well for this display.

Is there a recommended colour for this display?

Thanks!

Hello Al,

Thanks for your post.

I wonder if you have tried flat out your display with the dark brown filter on your HTPC? How did it look like?

With any dark filters, we tend to suggest VFD displays because they are nice and bright.

Hi Raquel, thanks for looking at the post.

I tried the smoked brown filter that came with the HTPC case, it is too dark, I can't see the display unless I am very close.

I was wondering is a light blue filter would work with this display? It is either that or clear?

Hello Al,

I got some opinions from my colleague and I have found (sad to say that its new to me as well) that LCDs do not work well with filters.

We are talking about something subjective here, you still might want to try the light blue if you like.

Thanks,

Thanks Raquel, that makes sense, I will try a light blue and clear piece of plastic to see which works best.

The other reason for this is to provide some amount of protection for the screen, no matter how much I tell people to look with their eyes, they always want to put their finger on the display!
