Changing vide voltage range to 5 volts ?

Post by thomasj »

Hi,

Has anyone tried to modify a display for vide voltage range (9-15 volts) 'back' to 5 volts ? I guess there is a DC/DC-converter somewhere on the board, can I just bypass it in any way or has it got to be removed ?

I'm not shure about the final power supply voltages in the design and thought it migth be easier to remove the vide voltage range option than to install it :-)

Hello Thomas,

Thanks for your post.

Can you please tell me which module it is that you are thinking of changing to 5V unit, also the PCB Rev?

Hi Raquel,
Actually I haven't got the module yet, so I don't know anything about the PCB rev (ordered it today), but it is a GLK240128-25-WB-V graphic lcd. As I mentioned, I have not decided on wether to make 5 Volts available in the design, most of the other electronics will run on 3.3 V, and since I have 12 Volts at hand I thought the vide range module would suit. But just in case I will use 5 Volts it would be interesting to know if it could be done easily.

Best regards,

In case that you decide on changing the GLK240128-25-V to a +5V module, there will be a pin that you will have to lift up (disconnect), and a couple of components you will need to short out (bypass). I will give you details when we get there.

Thanks,
