Flow control only in TTL mode (MOS-AP202C)?

Post by kk6265 »

I'm using a MOS-AP202C over RS-232. We are intermittently seeing junk on some of the displays, usually when we're sending lots of stuff to it. I've tried to use flow control mode, but never seen anything from the device. Then I read (in Section 2.2 of the manual) that data "is only sent when in TTL mode." So, does that mean there's no possibility of flow control when using RS-232?

Hello kk6265,

Thanks for your post.

You are right, you can only take advantage of flow contol in TTL mode. With the MOS series, RS232 communication is only one way (from host to display). I am sorry for the inconvenience, can you connect via TTL?

Unfortunately, these are already live (and talk to an SBC with only RS-232, and have to live quite a few feet away from the SBC). For the future, bidirectional RS-232 communication is available on some of the other units (like the VK-202-25, since PLEDS are out), right? BTW, what happened to the PLEDs anyway -- they seem the best for low power and brightness.

Hello kk6265,

Again you are right, the other displays like the VK and LK series have full duplex communication in RS232. The MOS series belong in our economy displays, which have less features.

It is unfortunate to hear that you have no choice but to connect via RS232.

As per the PLEDs, please see this
