Vista RC1 Support - MX610

Post by MrZumma »

Greetings all!

Just curious, but what might the status be for Vista USB drivers for the MX6 series displays?

Thanks!

Hello MrZumma,

Thank you for your post.

I was told that a co-worker has tried out 2.0 drivers in Vista and it worked. I haven't confirmed with that co-worker, but I will when I get hold of him.

If you go to our drivers section:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
and try out either of the 2.00.00 versions, I would also like to hear the results.

Thanks,

Thank you Raquel!

I did try the 2.0 drivers from the FTDICHIP website, but could not get them to recognize the MX6. At least Vista sees it as a MX2/MX3/MX6 in the device manager.

I tried the .zip file and the installation executable from the FTDICHIP website, but no dice. So, if your co-worker does have it working, please let me know how he did it.

Thanks for your help!

Hello Marty,

Try this zip file instead:
http://updates.lcdstudio.com/~ray/jon/mtx_ftdi_200.zip

Please let me know if this works. I was told it should :)

My co-worker just flew in from The Netherlands to answer your question; finally got hold of him, then. Thanks, Ray!

That was quick! Much appreciated!

Tried it and I am still getting 'Windows could not find driver software for your device' when updating the driver for the 'MX2/MX3/MX6' device.

I uninstalled the orginial FTDI driver install (the installation executable from FTDI's website.)

Thanks again!

Are you running 32 or 64 bit vista? I took some screenshots while installing hte MX on a clean (32 bit) vista system with the zip raquel linked unpacked on my desktop.

http://updates.lcdstudio.com/~ray/jon/mx_install.xps

when following those steps does it work out for you then?

if you are trying to run them on 64 bit vista, I'm not really sure the FTDI drivers support that alraedy but if they do you need to press F6 during bootup to allow unsinged drivers

I should have specified the 64bit version. I'll try F8 and see what happens. Thanks!

Thanks for the help...

After hitting F8 and selecting the option for allowing unsigned drivers, the drivers did install properly and the MX6 did display in all its glory! However, a reboot disabled the drivers once again... I then tried "bcdedit /set nointegritychecks ON" and the drivers once again worked, but a reboot put me back to square one.

The drivers from the link above and the FTDI site (x64 versions) did not work for me and only those from the MO site for WinXP x64 would work until the reboot.

Looks like I am back to square one.. Can I expect MO to release signed drivers for Vista x64 in the very near future?

Thanks!

I was wondering if there was any solution to this problem.
I have a MX212...
