PK202-24 Brightness Issue/Display Lifespan

Post by bacall213 »

Hey MO Folks,
I've been using your PK202-24 USB out of the MX6 package for 3 months as of tomorrow and I've been loving it, except that I'm finding it becoming noticably dimmer. I'm not only finding it becoming dimmer, but also the lighting seems to be uneven across the letters. The display is plugged into a floppy power connector, which to my knowledge is the proper voltage (it is at the proper voltage according to PS specs, unmodified), so power is not a concern, nor is my USB failing in any way that I am aware of. I remember seeing somewhere before purchasing the PK202-24 that the PLEDs have a much smaller lifespan than most of the other displays, being a newer technology, but that the lifespan was still at least 10,000 hours or so. Unfortunately I cannot find the document I read this in to show this fact. If you can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,

The lifespan is approximately 10,000 hours. Your display shouldn't be noticeably dim like that.

Can you provide me with a picture to see how dim it is?

Tom,
Thanks for the quick reply, and sorry for my delay. I took some pictures with my digital camera, but unfortunateley my camera's color just isn't that great and the screen appears to shimmer. Also, the slightest movement apparently gave the screen a brightness boost in the shots. I'll post what I took here for reference. I don't know what to say, it really is getting dim in my opinion, but I'm not sure how else to show it. Any suggestions?

Brian
