Hello,
I am new here, as you can see of course. I am in need of help connecting the above mentioned. I have searched may places for a schematic of how to properly connect my LCD, which is a 2041, for serial connection with a max232 chip and a pic 16f877. I have schematics for the Individual components, but no schematic for these three connected together. I am having problems, because what I think should be connected, isn't working.
The LCD 2041 has three communications options
I2C
TTL
RS232
I would like to go TTL, straight from the pic to the LCD, but when I connect these two together, I get NOTHING without using the max232.
I've already tested the LCD on the Hyperterminal, and it works fine for that, I can get output on the LCD screen of what I type...
But i can get nothing when connecting the PIC to the LCD...
anyone have a schematic, or know how to wire these together?
LCD 2041, Max232, PIC connection
Hi,
Thanks for posting on the forums.
Since you were communicating to the display with hyperterminal, then you were communicating via RS-232.
There are three unsoldered jumpers above the DB-9 connector labeled "TTL" under the jumpers that need to be soldered to communicate via TTL. You will then be able to connect TX from your pic to the RX pin on either the 4 pin power connector or the DB-9 connector. For more detailed information on the unit, you can refer to the manual at http://www.matrixorbital.com/files/LCD2041.pdf .
If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to post.
Best Regards,
