Excuse my ignorance but i think it's suppose to be like that. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. The one thing I dont get though is what the manual says about about the GPOs. In the manual of VK204-24-USB under section 2.2.1 it says Advanced General Purpose Outputs & GPOs 1, 2, 3, and 4. Now, from that title I was under the impression that there are advanced GPOs AND GPOs as in regular GPOs or something. In the diagram it shows Advanced GPO's 1, 2, 3, and 4 with a blue box around the red fan headers and all the other stuff. I thought there were only 6 GPOs total. Now say the red fan headers are GPOs 1 - 4. If you go down to section 2.2.3 it says General Purpose Outputs 5, 6, and 7 but in the diagram is labels 3 pins as GPO 4, 5, and 6. Whats going on? Can someone clear this up for me? Thanks.
If you see one pin cut off that is correct. There will be 9 pins in total at the low power GPO. The six left pins are GPOs 5,6,and 7.
To clarify things, there are 7 GPOs in total for the MX5. The advanced GPOs or high power GPOs are the fan headers on your MX5, which are GPOs 1,2,3, and 4. They are called advanced because these GPOs source more power than the other GPOs, which is a maximum of 12V 1000mA. GPOs 5,6, and 7 are the low power GPOs, as mentioned above, which are maximum 5V 20mA.
I hope that clears things up for you.
Best Regards,

Very cool. I had read the manual a little and figured it out last night. I got the VFD running a bit ago. I tried running it on just the ext. USB and WinXP wasnt detecting it. I then did some searching here at the forums and found some useful info,... thats when I used the floppy "Y" connector and it started right up. I had it running within minutes. All I have to say is WOW. Very cool display. Can't wait to get it in my puter and running for good.
