Can I use a 2 wire thermistor temp probe with a MX VFD?

Post by tribaloverkill »

I am installing a water cooling system and the reservoir I am getting has a special probe that can be used to monitor the temp insed the reservoir. The probe screws right into the reservoir flawlessly. Its the fass-o-matci reservoir. I want to know if there is any way to get that probe to work with a MX VFD. I dont really feel like rigging my own temp probe for the coolant.

You cannot get the temperature to read directly into the temperature input of a MX VFD. The MX series temperature input is only compatible with the dallas one wire protocol. Unless the temperature probe is using the dallas one wire protocol, you cannot do this without using a microcontroller, which will require some extra electronic knowledge.

Oh,... ok. Well,... I will then need to some how rig a dallas probe to monitor the coolant temperature of my water cooling system. I was told to seal the tip of the probe with epoxy,... is this normal epoxy you could get from home depot of a special epoxy or something? Will seling the tip of the probe with epoxy throw the temperature reading off?
