What am I doing wrong?
I have a mx232 and want to control my fans with it. So I hook up the fans to the headers, put the internal usb and an unmodified floppy cable (the one from your site). When I want to start my computer it all flashes for half a second and then goes dead. There is no way to revive the motherboard and this is the second lanparty ut I've killed in this way (the first time it was practically all new hardware and I didn't know where the problem lied). What can I do about this?

edit: oh yeah, the jumper is put on the far left

Nope, all drivers were working properly when I put the unmodified floppy in (computer was turned off for that offcourse). But the floppy connector only has a black wire on the left and a yellow one on the right. Is this how it has to be?
plz help me, because I really love my MO, but can't keep buying mobo's. And I really don't want to try when I get my new lanparty.
Do I have to change someting in lcdc prior to plugging the unmodified cable in? Because I didn't do that.

ofcourse, this is the cable and the place I bought it from.

The screen itself I bought directly from you.
But I don't think the problem is the powercable, I think it has more to do with the internal usb-connection since it's the only thing that leads to the mobo.
Your help is very much appreciated, Randy Odent.

You have been using the modified 12V power cable, so that means you have been using the wrong cable. The unmodified cable is the one that comes directly from your computer. If don't have the cable, you can get it at http://www.matrixorbital.com/pages/acce ... sp?CatID=5, which is titled power cable standard. Use the unmodified, and let me know how things work for you.

thx Silent Ted, that did it (I must still be sleeping).
a few last questions: I'm looking to add a mx532. Do I set it up (cablewise) exactly the same as an mx2? And can I just plug in 4 fans (while using a "real" unmodified floppy cable offcourse) or do I have to watch out for something?
Would it be possible to buy it with the jumper soldered so that it boots up immediately when I hit the powerswitch, and or there any things to keep an eye on in this case?

Hi Randy,
For the MX5 you need to power the unit with an unmodified floppy power cable along with the USB cable to get it working. It will not power up with just the USB cable alone, other than that, the units are very similar.
It would not make a difference if you soldered a jumper or use the jumper connector because the unit will work the same way.
