Garbage on screen when screen is powered

Post by OptPrime »

So here is my prob... I got this MX4xx from some guy on hardforum... he got it 6 months ago... I have had it for a week and I just powered it up for the first time. The screen is in excellent exteriror shape, but i have no idea on the internals.

Now when i power up the screen... it has garbage on it. Like 3 of the character sets are all white. Keep in mind that the usb port thing is not plugged in and the lcd has no software running currently. I have a pic but it is kinda blurry.

is this common. Does this mean the screen is shot and i need to send it in for warrenty...

Plz help, I need this for a project i am working on... you can see it here. http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=334959 This case is actually going ot be published in a magazine next week and i bet it would be some great advertising if we could get this figured out. hehe

Hi,

Try plugging in the USB cable, installing the drivers, and checking if you get any communications. If you installed the drivers properly, a virtual com port will be made, and you can see it in device manager under the Ports(COM & LPT) branch. You can use LCDC, display tuner, uproject, or LCD tester to communicate with your display. They should be in the ecd that came with your display. You can also email me to get a copy of uproject at support@matrixorbital.com. Let me know how things work out for you.

Just Curious, what magazine are you getting your case published in?

so you are thinking that it is the fact that no software or drivers running behind it is causeing it to have some randomness on the screen? I was just worried cause when i see people with theirs just powered up it doesnt have what mine does on it. Well i get the new board and proc today so i will have it plugged in then.

There is a chance that you may need to reload the memory for the startup screen, but it's hard to tell if anything major is wrong with it until you get communications with your display.
