I recently purchased an LX204-24-USB. The GPO headers for the fans are outputting 5v. Nothing I do changes this output voltage.
If I switch the jumper that's intended for 12v operation, the unit locks up and begins to overheat (yes, overheat!) .
Why can I not get 12v out of this unit? I need to control fans, but the fans won't even spin up at 5v it seems.
In addition to this, there really needs to be a walkthrough on how to setup fans. I searched the forums but was unable to find anything (Maybe it's there and I'm not searching on the right keywords?) - and there's nothing in the manual, which brings me to another gripe I have... For the price of the these units, I expect at least some reasonable software to be bundled with it... instead you get a demo version of software you have to pay for. What kind of cheesy action is that?
All in all, I expected a lot more out of Matrix Orbital, but so far, the unit is basically worthless. Won't control fans, and needs $20 more in software to even be of any real use.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated on why this thing only outputs 5v and refuses to output 12v.
LX204-24-USB GPO problems
Was playing with this a bit more... and I found something odd on the power outputs:
Black = ground (no problems)
Red = line voltage (should be 12v or 5v) - but there's NO power on this line
Yellow = RPM sensor - getting 5v out of it.
Why am I seeing 5v on yellow, which should be dead? Or am I wrong, and I should see power on it? Why is my middle pin, the one that should be 12v, completely dead?

I apologize for any inconvenience you are having with the module. At Matrix Orbital we take our customers suggestions and feedback very seriously. We are currently in the process of creating a couple "how to's" that will be completed very soon. I unerstand this will not help your current situation, however, we will do whatever it takes to get the unit set up as you require.
We do provide the appropriate software with the MX Series as a bundle. You can imagine the diversity of customers we have and not everyone requires the use of this software, so we provide it as an option.
In regards to the manual, it is used more from a technical point of view rather then setting up software etc. This is something we are constantly updating and improving upon trying to cover all areas for our end customers.
The situation you are describing is very unique and not common. Can you contact me at myero@matrixorbital.ca to discuss further options regarding this matter?
