MBM5 + LCD (?)

Post by hpxchan »

i am upgrading my pc from aircooling to watercooling in a month or two, and i would like a way to monitor the temps cuz i will be adjusting the speed of fans on the rad with a baybus or something, and i dont want to accidently turn them down too low

i just dl'd motherboard monitor 5 (MBM5), and its workin all nice 'n stuff... but to see my temps during a game or when working with a big prgm, i have to give the keyboard shortcut for the on-screen display, and my case and cpu temps appear in the upper-right corner of my screen. this slows the game/prgm down to a CRAWL => a less-than-5fps-in-counterstrike crawl.

i read up about lcds, and heard about these matrix orbital displays that fit in your drive bay (or in other places... hehe), and the mx series (i hear mx4 series fixed fan bugs in mx2 series) apparently can display all kinds of temps, has several hookups for DOW temp probes (which i would really like to have, cuz i could monitor the temps of vga card and hdd as well as cpu and case), can control fans/lights, and does a lot of other things that i would never use

an mx4 display would be ideal for my situation. i dont like the price, but i can find a way to pay for it, and ive heard that you can't manually adjust fan speed (is that true?). also, i dont know where i would put it -- i dont have room in 5.25 inch bays, and i dont really want to mount something on a removable side panel, so i guess ill just mount it inside a box or something lol (btw if anyone knows where to buy steel/aluminum boxes, cuz i wont be able to make one myself, i would appreciate it).

i really want one, but i first want to hear everyone's opinions. if anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
