Can't set PMW frequency so LED fans are flickering/strobing

Now I've just got this damn flicker caused from the FAN RPM freature... Once again it makes the LED Fans unusable (See my thread about this)

Have you tried adjusting to a higher frequency...this should help the strobbing effect. If you didn't read the RPM at all, then you won't have any strobbing!!

I've suffered from two different problems.

1) The strobing... I could set the PWM frequency which would cure it, but the bootup program seems to have a fault where it cant actually set the frequency (or anything else for that matter) at start up. I've now been told how to do this from with LCDC. Problem fixed.

2) Now onto my second problem - I want to display the RPMs, I want to know how fast the fans are going

Why on earth should this cause my second problem, which is the LEDs being set to full brightness for a fraction of a second every three or so seconds? As I said, this makes all the fans pulse to full power/brightness every 3 seconds (approx) which is just too annoying...

Checkin into your first problem...your second, is a limitation of how we actually read the RPM...

So there is no way around the 2nd other than me not to read the RPM or to power the LEDs from a different source?

Hi there. I have the same problem actually, my leds fans are flickering. Through the BootEdit.exe if i change it to 38.2hz the flickering is gone. I press the write to unit, reboot and nada.. all is lost.

I didnt really understand the way through the lcdc test step. Should the # be changed with something like my gpo number?

Also its no matter if i have rpm reading on or off.. the flickering is still there.

Yes the BootEdit seems stuffed - ie: It doesn't actually set the values for startup.

You can instead do it from within LCDC... See this thread
