I posted here after checking the manual on the MO main site. The instructions there, if I'm reading them correctly, say to "solder jumper 1" and "remove jumper 2" to power with external power. At least gathering from this forum, the manual is incorrect. Jumper 2 needs to be soldered ...

Would a small capacitor between the fan leads serve to smooth the square wave power delivery to the fan? If so, what value would you use? I was thinking of trying about 100uF and going up from there.
