Ok, I know how to take pictures, amybe even good ones....

But my camera (Fuji FinePix 1400), a great allaround digital camera, sucks at taking pictures of my LCD. I get decent contrast when I use the flash, but the glare make your eyeballs bleed in the rest of the picture. If I use room light, or no light, I get no contrast in the display.

I know the thing's redreshing, but my shutter speeds are way slow, it catches the whole display, it's just unbelievably dim. All the pics I see around here are great, but I can't get a decent shot so save my ass. It even shows up great in the LCD onboard my camera, so I can't imagine that the room light is inadequate. Is there some polarization issue with my camera? Do I need to stand on my head? Sacrifice a goat? Help!

Or does everyone else take theirs with film and scan them?

Well, never take the pictures with a flash. They NEVER turn out. We use a Nikon 990 here. It does a great job. For the really nice pictures we also have color correcting photo lights. Make sure it's no in direct sunlight or under too artificial light. It's a big balancing act.

I general use very low light conditions, no flash, macro mode (lol) and a very very long exposure (and a desk to rest the cam on)

Cheers,

It took me AGES to get decent pictures of my MX212 for my review!

I'm hoping the camera I plan to get, a Canon Powershot S45, will cope abit better. Currently I have a 3MP Kodak DX3700.

I found that artifically lighting the LCD from below worked the best (I used a halogen desk lamp) and turning the flash off on the camera
also pictures slightly from the side tended to turn out better.

Or if that don't work, try what I said, artifically light it from an angle left/right and from below...
